Equipment

  • Slow cooker (6 quart or larger)

Ingredients

  • 16 oz wide egg noodles uncooked
  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1/2 cup butter 1 stick, cut into slices
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 cup sour cream full fat
  • 4 oz cream cheese cut into cubes and allowed to soften
  • Fresh parsley to garnish

Instructions

  • Pour the chicken broth into the slow cooker. Add the butter slices, garlic powder and onion powder.
  • Put the uncooked noodles in the slow cooker. Gently press the noodles so they are covered with the broth.
  • Cover and cook on HIGH for 1-1.5 hours, or until the noodles are cooked and have absorbed most of the broth. (Check at the 1 hour mark to avoid mushy noodles.)
  • Turn off the slow cooker or set it to WARM.
  • Add the sour cream and cubes of cream cheese to the noodles.
  • Stir gently until the cheeses are melted and a creamy sauce is formed. If the sauce looks too thick, add a splash of warm milk or extra broth.
  • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve.
